The Menu

Opening the menu

You can open MemoryBoost's main menu by right-clicking its icon in the system tray. The system tray is the little square in the bottom-right portion of the screen, with the clock in it. The MemoryBoost icon is the colored box with numbers in it. Right-click this, and you'll see the menu above appear.

The Manager

The Manager lets you control MemoryBoost and your system. You can open the Manager by clicking on the "Manager..." item on the menu. For more information, see the Manager section.

The Optimizer

The Optimizer lets you quickly tailor MemoryBoost and your system to your needs. You can open the Optimizer by clicking on the "Optimize system..." item on the menu. For more information, please see the Optimizer section.

QuickBoost

QuickBoost will work immediately to reclaim more memory for your programs. When you click this item on the MemoryBoost menu, you'll see an exclamation mark appear in MemoryBoost's icon; this shows that MemoryBoost is working to reclaim more memory for you. The QuickBoost should take a few seconds to half a minute, depending on how much memory is free on your system and how many programs need to use it.

Suspend / resume

The suspend / resume items on the menu let you suspend or resume MemoryBoost. When MemoryBoost is suspended, it will not run no matter how low your memory gets. It's effectively frozen; it's running, but it won't do anything as long as it's suspended. When you resume MemoryBoost, it goes back into its normal mode. It will try to reclaim memory for you when you're not using your computer, and if memory becomes critically low it will immediately jump into action.

Stop all programs

The "Stop all programs" item on the menu will stop all non-essential programs running on your computer. You should use this item with care; if you have a program open and haven't saved your work in it, you may lose your unsaved work. This item is intended to let you reclaim a lot of memory very quickly; by shutting down all running programs, you can immediately regain all the memory they use. If your computer has become dangerously-low on memory or resources, or if you need to close all programs for some other reason (an installation, for example), this item is a good way to do it. Generally speaking, however, you should try to close programs manually if possible.
